My contribution to the Welsh Assembly on the Legislative Consent Motion for our withdrawal from the European Union. Despite dragging…
I recently took part in a debate in the Welsh Assembly to oppose the ridiculous proposal by Betsi Cadwalladr to water down the standards of the nurses who are employed there. Betsi Cadwalladr has been directly run by the Welsh Labour Government for years, giving us a brilliant illustration of the cost of the Labour Party to our NHS in Wales.
I recently questioned the Minister for Finance whether the Welsh Government could play more of a role in assisting councils and small and medium-sized businesses in the area of business rates and business rate relief. Our town centre’s are dying and I feel as if the Welsh Government could be doing much more to reverse this trend.
The recent BBC documentary into Wales puppy farming has proven that the regulations set by the Welsh Government aren’t working. Is it not time that we ended this foul practice in its entirety and moved to ban puppy farming in Wales? Unfortunately, it would seem the Minister doesn’t agree.
I recently questioned the Minister for Finance on whether, based on the Welsh Government’s own Brexit scare stories, it was going to re-analyse its support for the Red Route, a road building scheme which will destroy unrecoverable ancient woodland in North Wales. As expected, the Welsh Government are happy to point to their scare stories but aren’t so comfortable about taking action based on them. It makes you wonder whether they believe it themselves!
My recent speed in the Welsh Assembly arguing against the absurd idea that we should give prisoner’s in Wales the right to vote. Unfortunately, little was listened to and at the next Welsh Assembly elections, prisoner’s will have the same rights as law abiding citizens. Crazy.
I recently questioned the Minister for Health, Vaughan Gething, on the lack of availability of drugs like Orkambi and Symkevi in the Welsh NHS, despite the availability in Scotland. I am pleased to say that the Welsh Government has now come to an agreement to provide Orkambi, a big relief to the one in every 2,500 babies born with Cystic Fibrosis.
Today in the Welsh Assembly I questioned the Minister for Education on why GCSE results in both English and Welsh have taken a turn for the worse and whether she should take any responsibility for this failing.
A press release from Michelle Brown, Independent Assembly Member for North Wales, regarding today’s recall of the Welsh Assembly.
In the Welsh Assembly today I expressed my concern at the Welsh language provision in job applications for Welsh Government…
